EXAMINATIONS
Registering for examinations
All students have to register for examinations. There are no special examinations for visiting students! Please be aware that your examination results will not be included in your transcript of record unless your name appears on the candidate lists which are forwarded by the examiners to the Student Affairs Office.
Therefore all students should apply online through the portal
Further detailed information (mostly in German), the examination schedule, as well as the examination regulations are available on the Internet:
Visiting students
As you are enrolled in a predefined study programme, but also may take modules from several different study programmes, some of the modules you attended might not be listed in the portal for you. You can however register for the respective module(s) by e-mail: Please write to Ms. Sonja Hemesath (Student Affairs Office), E-mail: S.Hemesath@fh-osnabrueck.de, indicating the module title, the study programme and the examiner for any examination that you want to take in addition.
Deadlines for registering
- Winter semester: end of November
- Summer semester: end of April
When you have registered for an examination for the first time but for some reason you decide afterwards not to take it, you can withdraw from the examination by not appearing. This however only applies to the first attempt. The examination in principle has to be written on the next possible date.
Previous examinations for perusal
To get an idea of how an examination of a specific professor might look like, students have the opportunity to have a look at the collection of previous examinations provided by Fachschaft WiSo. You can also find a course called “Klausurensammlung Fakultät WiSo” at Stud.IP and download the examinations you are interested in:
EXAMINATION RESULTS - TRANSCRIPTS OF ACADEMIC RECORD (CERTIFICATES)
Visiting and international degree students
The transcript of one's own records as well as the examination results are available at the portal
FH Osnabrück gives credits in accordance with the "European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS)". Performances at the faculty are assessed according to the FH OS grading system. ECTS grades from A to F and a percentage distribution of the examination results can however momentarily not be ascertained.
Visiting students
FH Osnabrück can only certify performances in accordance with the modules that have been stipulated in the learning agreements and specified in the official course catalogue.
The certificates are issued by the Student Affairs Office and posted once all the examination results from the examiners are on hand – at the earliest in March/April (fall term) or September/October (spring term). You and your home university obtain one transcript each. If there might be any unclarity, please contact the IFO.
Students who study at FH Osnabrück for more than one semester will get an official certificate only at the end of their stay. If an intermediate transcript is needed, a print-out of the transcript in the portal "My FH" (see above for link) should be taken which can be signed and stamped by the IFO, if required.
EXAMINATION RETAKES
Failed examinations can always be repeated during the examination period of the next semester, even if the respective module is not taught during the following term. Indeed only the examination is to be taken again, but it would be most advisable to attend the lecture once more, too, provided that it is offered, to repeat the contents and prepare for the retake in the best possible way.
The examiners can vary. They do not hold an extra examination. The date cannot be chosen by you.
Visiting students
If you have already returned home and if you are no longer enrolled at FH Osnabrück, you should first contact the International Faculty Office (IFO), Email: ifo@wi.fh-osnabrueck.de, as the responsible examiners have to be asked for permission whether the examination may be written at your home university. If the international coordinators of your university agree as well, the examination papers can be exchanged by e-mail/fax. For this purpose you should clarify the situation with them, too.
Once you have received the confirmation by both International Offices, you have to re-enrol at FH Osnabrück as examinations may only be repeated if you are a registered student at FH Osnabrück. The IFO will inform you about the procedure.
